Virus Check Copyright (C) 1991 by N D Wallbridge Protean Software Consultants 96 Windmill Drive Croxley Green Herts WD3 3FE United Kingdom Computer viruses are a menace to the computer software industry. This program is designed to help combat that menace. All 'PC Learning Games' programs are developed on PCs with sophisticated virus detection software, so you can be sure that the original disks were virus free. However, as these programs are distributed as "shareware", it is possible that the programs can become infected as they are copied between different users. VCHECK.EXE will check, that as far as is possible, the programs are the same as the originals. PLEASE NOTE: VCHECK.EXE is NOT a complete virus detection system. It does not recognize specific viruses, but detects the effect of any virus on 'PC Learning Games' .EXE files. It can not detect viruses infecting other programs or disks. There are many commercially available products that will scan for and detect viruses. I would recommend VIRUSCAN from McAfee Associates (408) 988-3832 office 4423 Cheeney Street (408) 970-9727 fax Santa Clara, CA 95054-0253 (408) 988-4004 BBS 2400 bps U.S.A. (408) 988-5138 BBS HST 9600 (408) 988-5190 BBS v32 9600 VCHECK.EXE calculates a checksum for all PC Learning Games programs that it finds in the current directory. If the calculated checksum doesn't match the stored checksum then a warning is given. The reasons that a checksum might not match are: 1. A virus has attached itself to the file. 2. A program file is corrupt. 3. The version of VCHECK.EXE is for a different version of the programs. If your disk does not contain VCHECK.EXE, or if VCHECK.EXE reports any of the above, DO NOT RUN THE PROGRAMS. Write for a clean copy of the disk to: Protean Software Consultants 96 Windmill Drive Croxley Green Herts WD3 3FE United Kingdom
